These irresistibly fudgy brownies are rich, chocolatey, and so simple to make! With a handful of ingredients, you can have a batch of homemade brownies that are better than the boxed kind!
In a saucepan melt the butter, then turn off the heat.
After the saucepan is removed from the heat, add the sugar and brown sugar. With a whisk, stir the sugars until they are melted.
Next add the eggs, vanilla, and cocoa. Whisk until completely incorporated.
After the ingredients are completely mixed together, add the flour and salt. With a rubber spatula, fold these ingredients in without overmixing. As soon as all of the ingredients are wet stop mixing. If you overmix, your brownies can end up more on the cakey side.
Fold in the chocolate chips now if you choose to add some.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a little extra on the sides so you can lift the brownies out easily once they’re done. Pour the batter into the pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, but start checking them around 20 minutes. You want the edges to be set and the center to be slightly soft.
Serve warm or wait until cooled!
